Lamoresca

Sicily, Italy

Lamoresca is a winery in San Michele in Ganzaria, founded by Belgian couple Filippo and Nancy in 2000. Situated at 430 meters above sea level, Lamoresca has a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and not much rain. They produce 5 different wines using native grapes such as Frappato, Nero d'Avola, Vermentino and Moscato. Lamoresca practices sustainable farming by removing weeds with a hoe and using them to add nitrogen to the soil, as well as legumes. The wort ferments in open vats with no added sulfites dioxide or yeasts, and the maceration process is carefully carried out for both reds and whites to develop their particular flavours and scents.
